President-elect Boakai Departs for U.S.

President-elect of the Republic of Liberia, Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai leaves the country this morning for the United States of America, a release from his office says.

While in the United States, President-Elect Boakai is expected to hold a wide range of consultations with stakeholders in the political process of Liberia, including the Unity Party in the United States and Canada to thank them for the massive and unwavering support given the Unity Party Alliance in the elections.

He is also expected to pay visits to close family members while in the United States.

While he is away, the Vice President-elect Honorable Jeremiah Koung, will conduct the affairs of the Joint Presidential Transition Team in close consultation with the Unity Party Alliance.

The President-elect’s trip is expected to last two to three weeks.
